‘graceland’ Renewed For Second Season At Usa Network
Tena inherits a team long on talent but short on cohesiveness. El Tri looked uninspired in last Fridays 2-1 loss to Honduras at Estadio Azteca, with Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez left out of the starting lineup alongside Villarreal winger Javier Aquino. Tena will have the responsibility of deciding on whether to re-integrate the struggling Hernandez or stick with Oribe Peralta, who scored Mexicos lone goal last Friday. Mexicos lineup decisions are no tougher than those Jurgen Klinsmann and the USA will have to contend with. Michael Bradleys absence in central midfield leaves a glaring void that cant easily be filled. Kyle Beckerman is expected to slot into the defensive midfield role, which should give Jermaine Jones more freedom to contribute to the attack. Klinsmanns greater concerns lie in defense, where the back line has surrendered six goals in two matches, and must contend with Mexicos attacking missing the teams best center back in suspended defender Matt Besler. Clarence Goodson should start in central defense alongside Omar Gonzalez in a pairing that is strong in the air, but one that could be susceptible to speed. What should be of greater concern for USA is the play of the teams fullbacks. DaMarcus Beasley is coming off his worst game at left back since moving to the position on a permanent basis, while Michael Orozco didnt exactly instill confidence during his first national team start at right back vs. Costa Rica. Klinsmann didnt sound too worried about his defense heading into Tuesdays match though, saying he is confident his team will play well.

The biggest executive shift comes at USA Network , where Chris McCumber was named president. McCumber had been working in tandem with Jeff Wachtel as co-president of the channel for nearly three years. USA Network is NBCUniversal’s most profitable asset. “Chris has proven himself a fantastic leader with a deep understanding of the enormous strength and equity of the USA brand,” Bonnie Hammer , chairman of the NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment Group, said in an email to her staff announcing the changes. McCumber is based in New York. He will have oversight of the cable division’s two production studios, Universal Cable Productions and Wilshire Studios. “Jeff’s development track record at USA is the envy of the TV business, so it makes sense to maximize his original programming expertise and business savvy by extending his purview across the entire portfolio,” Hammer wrote in the email.
