More new songs from Britney Spears are etching closer to becoming a reality, as on Tuesday the artist took some hype-building lessons from former beau Justin Timberlake and placed a countdown clock on her website to tease new music. At the time of posting, we’re just less than 28 days from the release of what Spears is calling “All Eyes on Me,” presumably the new single off her upcoming eighth album. Spears has thus far offered no details on “All Eyes on Me” but has remade her site over to showcase nothing but the countdown to the morning of Sept. 17. Earlier this year Timberlake used a similar countdown clock when he was releasing new tunes, but Timberlake had fans waiting a weekend rather than almost a full month. A new Spears album would make this a rather pop-heavy fall, with new efforts from Katy Perry and Lady Gaga also on the horizon. That same day, Black Eyed Pea-turned-producer-for-hire took to social networks himself to say that he has been busy working with Spears. Spears, who has long been reported to be prepping a Las Vegas for later this year, posted on Facebook on Aug. 3 what she dubbed an album “recipe” — largely just a run-down of some of her biggest hits . for his part later revealed that dance producer William Orbit, a regular Madonna collaborator, would be doing behind-the-boards work on the Spears effort. Spears teamed up with for his late 2012 single “Scream & Shout.” While the song was part of his clunker of an album “#willpower,” the digital single itself has sold well, having been legally downloaded more than 3.2 million times in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan. Spears’ “Smurfs 2” cut, “Ooh La La,” has performed more modestly. Since the song’s release earlier this summer it has sold 153,000 copies. ALSO:

The show’s boss Simon Cowell has admitted he didn’t realise that the ‘Scream & Shout’ singer is not a big talker and confirmed it was the main reason he decided to replace her on the judging panel this year after just one season. The 55-year-old British star told ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’ in a new interview that will air in the U.S. on Tuesday (10.09.13): ”I didn’t realise that! I kind of booked someone who couldn’t talk, which is a bit of a problem when you want someone to judge.” He added: ”She wasn’t comfortable being negative, she didn’t like it when the contestants spoke back to her, so she was just uncomfortable. I liked her. So we decided to change it this year and I thought I’ll work with three girls because I like working with girls.” Simon also confessed that he only asked Britney, 31, to be a judge as he got caught up in competing with ‘American Idol’ and ‘The Voice’ USA to feature high profile judges such as Jennifer Lopez and Christina Aguilera. He said: ”I think if I’m being honest with you, Ellen, there was a time I think everyone was trying to up themselves in terms of who could find the biggest known star to be on a panel. And in terms of a pop singer? Jennifer Lopez and the other one on The Voice… I can’t remember. Blondie. Christina. And we said, ‘We’ll take Britney’. She was fine, but I think she found it very uncomfortable.” Britney previously claimed she decided to leave the show to focus on her music career. She said in a statement in January: ”I’ve made the very difficult decision not to return for another season.

Why Miley Cyrus Is Right to Compare Herself to Britney Spears

The spry singer kept the buzz about her booty shaking alive by talking about it during a recent interview with MTV News, and all the hype has her believing that she deserves a spot in the history books for flashing her tongue and defiling a foam finger. She even went so far as to compare her performance to those of MTV VMA icons, Britney Spears and Madonna. “Madonna’s done it. Britney’s done it,” she said. “Every VMA performance, everyone that performs. That’s what they’re looking for; you’re wanting to make history, me and Robin the whole time said ‘You know we’re about to make history right now.'” Miley Cyrus obviously wants her performance to be mentioned in the same breath as some of Britney’s many magical VMA moments, which include the “I’m a Slave 4 U” snake dance , the striptease in a sparkly nude bodysuit , and the infamous Madonna kiss . However, Miley’s messy twerk-fest might belong in the same category as a much different Britney performance. In 2007, everyone was anticipating Britney Spears’ big comeback at the MTV VMAs. However, her lackluster performance of “Gimme More” was a disaster of epic proportions. According to People , “The View” host Whoopi Goldberg said that she looked like a “bad stripper” with her busted blonde weave and ill-fitting outfit, and Dr. Phil called her tepid performance a “train wreck.” The Daily News wrote, “Britney wasn’t a bad girl. At the end of the performance, she was just bad.” Miley experienced a similar backlash, with Kelly Clarkson using the hashtag “#pitchystrippers” to presumably describe the singer’s twerk-tastic performance. Brooke Shields labeled it ” a bit desperate ,” and Tumblr users had too much fun creating memes that poked fun at Miley’s giraffe-like tongue and an unfortunate wardrobe malfunction that left her with an odd-looking thigh gap.
